Editorial New Year 2014

Written by Jamanda

Well, we've all survived another year and here we are in 2014.

The Spring still seems far away as we get up in the dark and slosh through the floods, but the farmers, gardeners and allotment holders know that things are just biding their time down there in the soil. Take a look at What to do on the plot in January and February for help getting things ready for the growing season.

One of the main aims of Downsizer has always been to provide a space for people to freely share information and ideas. Take a look at our long list of Bloggers covering a huge range of subjects. We also like to promote the small businesses of our members, and you can see some of their enterprises here.

If you fancy learning a new skill this year we have a number of articles covering all kinds of things from knitting to soap making in our make your own section.

Or try foraging for some free wild food - save some money and get some exercise at the same time!

Thanks to colour it green, Shan, Mochyn, SandraR, Sally too, sally_in_wales, Jamanda, tai haku and Barefoot Andrew for the pics above.
