5 minute chocolate cake in a mug

Description 5 minute chocolate cake in a mug Heard on R2. Simplest cake I've ever made in my life. Idiot resistant. Even I can do it.

  • * 4 tbs/50g self raising flour
  • * 4 tbs/7g caster sugar
  • * 2 tbs/17g cocoa powder
  • * 1 egg
  • * 3 tbs/43 ml milk
  • * 3 tbs/25 mls sunflower oil
  • * 3 tbs choc chips (optional)
  • * A dash of vanilla extract
  • * 1 large coffee mug
Method/steps
  1. Add dry ingredients to mug
  2. Mix well
  3. Add egg and mix thoroughly
  4. Add milk & oil - mix well Don't leave any dry lumps
  5. Add the chocolate chips
  6. Add vanilla extract
  7. Mix again
  8. Put mug in microwave
  9. Cook for 3 minutes @1000w
  10. (5 mins for 650w)
  11. Cake will rise. A lot.
  12. Allow to cool a little.
  13. Tip out onto a plate.
  14. Eat!
Additional Tips
Only tricky bit is making sure once you've added the wet ingredients that you stir enough to mix in all the dry ones. Works just as well using normal flour and 1/2 tsp baking powder or bicarb. Also works as well with normal gran sugar not caster.
