Chestnut Cake

Description A rich nutty cake to eat on its own or to dress up with fruit or cream.

  • 4oz butter
  • 5oz self raising flour
  • 2 oz ground almonds
  • 3/4 jar sweetened chestnut puree
  • 1 large egg, beaten
  • 2 tbsp sunflower seeds
  • few drops vanilla essence
  • milk
Method/steps
  1. combine softened butter and flour. Add remaining ingredients, mixing in enough milk to make soft paste.
  2. Put in lined, shallow 8inch diameter tin. Cook at 190 C for approx 30 mins (till skewer comes out clean)
Additional Tips
Quite crumbly when warm so allow to cool fully in tin, then it should slice well. Freeze some if necessary.
