The days are lengthening and the nights drawing out. Spring has bounced it's way into the world and brought with it some much needed sunshine.

Here at Downsizer we find this a busy time of year.

There is always something to do on the plot, and now is the time for sowing and planting, ready for the growing season.

Don't despair if you don't have a plot on which to grow your own.

Here, at Downsizer, we believe that every little step helps, and there are many ways to grow your own food without a garden or allotment.

Perhaps you wish to turn over a new leaf to coincide with the spring equinox, by planning a new allotment, or starting your own compost. Downsizer is here to help and support.

Maybe the burgeoning buds and new growth on the hedgerows will inspire you to turn your hand to foraging. Take a look at our articles on finding food for inspiration, and to keep you safe in your endeavours.

Many of us are consumed by lambing season and others of us are starting to see our chicks and ducklings emerge. Seeing new fluffy life tumble from both incubator and broody bird alike, is always a joy.

Perhaps you would like to break into the world of chicken keeping. On either a large scale, with a view to selling eggs or simply in your own garden. Downsizer is here to help.

Here you can find all sorts of useful ideas and tips from making your own soap, producing your own easily compostable dishcloths, to giving an old and loved piece of furniture a new lease of life.

However, we are not all just about mud under the nails, and building a sustainable home and environment. We also take in the lighter side of life with all the joy and aplomb sustainability affords.
